Blessings

We got a call from Cooper's neurologist's office yesterday. His EEG was abnormal as I suspected it would be BUT there were no seizures detected on the EEG, only discharges and those were only from ONE area of the brain. The rest of  his brain waves looked NORMAL. It is so nice to hear normal and brain in the same sentence. What a blessing!

Cooper has been seizure free for almost a week. Praise God! It has been so nice to see him feeling good (except for teething). Im not sure if the seizures have decreased due to the medicine increase we did 2 weeks ago (likely) or because his shunt flow was turned down at the end of last week (less likely). Whatever the reason, I am GLAD and THANKFUL! Please continue to pray with us that those awful seizures stay away.

We are continuing to work on all areas of Cooper's development but I have been focusing alot on his oral motor development lately. Mostly because once he gains more independence in eating and w have more choices as far as what we feed him, life will be easier. Right now, he is doing VERY well with chunky baby foods, such as stage 2.5 and stage 3. He is also doing great with yogurt melts. He is also doing muh better with chewin, too. Tonight I mashed up a peach into small peices and he ate it. That was a big step for him. We will continue to work with him and offer him new tastes and textures at a slow pace. He has a very sensitive gag reflex which also complicates things. We are also working with sippy cups and straw drinking. Please keep these specific things in your prayers! In other "oral motor" news...Cooper is now clearly saying "uh-o", "dada", and "ama" (mama without the mmm at the beginning) and it is absolute music to my ears. That little perfect voice melts my heart.
